Open letter about COVID19

Dear Patient:

We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same, our commitment to your safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for disease control and prevention, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

Here are a few changes you may notice at your next appointment:

Our office has invested in a Surgically Clean Air, 6 stage air filtration system for each treatment room and reception area.

Our office will ask you screening questions when making your appointment and again on the day of your scheduled appointment.

Your temperature will be taken prior to your appointment.

You must wear a mask or face covering before entering our office.

Our receptions area will no longer provide magazines, toys or coffee as these items are difficult to disinfect.

We will provide hand sanitizer throughout the office. You will be asked to use it upon entering and to use as needed.

We ask that only the patient come to the appointment to limit the amount of people in the office. The driver may stay in the car. Please leave all personal items outside of the treatment room or in your car.

Please do not use your cell phone during your appointment.

All staff will wear masks. Clinical staff will wear N95 masks and face shields, gloves and gowns.

Due to social distancing guidelines, we may offer fewer options for scheduling your appointment. We are allowing more time between patients to properly manage patient flow and to reduce your waiting time.

We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you and every patient safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at (814)234-8527 or visit our website at smilesbyschimmel.com.

As always, we appreciate your trust in choosing us for your dental care and we look forward to seeing you soon.

Sincerely,
Dr. David Schimmel & Staff
