Dentistry For Kids
Providing Pediatric Dentistry in State College, PA
The ideal time for your child’s first visit is between one and two years of age. We will check for developmental concerns as well as decay.
It is very important that your child have a positive first experience. Children may sit on their parents’ laps, get a ride in the chair, watch TV, have their teeth polished, and get fun brushing and flossing instructions.
All patients’ bites will be examined at each visit. If Dr. Schimmel and the parent feel that a consult is necessary, he will refer you to an orthodontist for a consultation. You will continue to see Dr. Schimmel for exams and cleanings during the time you have your braces on.
A custom mouth guard is fabricated of hard or soft acrylic material to help cushion your teeth from injuries during sporting activities. An impression is taken and you will have your new mouth guard within a week.
We highly recommend the use of a mouth guard for football, baseball, field hockey, ice hockey, rugby, lacrosse, basketball, and wrestling.
