Bite Correction

Did you know that if your teeth are not aligned properly it may not be just an esthetic problem? When teeth are out of position, toothaches, fractured teeth, jaw discomfort and other problems can occur. The basis of optimum dental health begins with a correct bite.

Dr. Schimmel is a firm believer that teeth are just one part of a beautiful smile. Teeth are one part of the chewing system and if they are not in equilibrium with all the other parts of the system, something is going to breakdown. Dentistry can not be effectively practical without an understanding of how the teeth relate to the rest of the system. In order to provide our patients with excellent care, Dr. Schimmel has studied extensively with Dr. Peter Dawson, a leader in the field of occlusion (bite) for over 50 years.

We will work with you on a predictable outcome working towards a goal of optimal oral health, functional harmony, and natural esthetics. There are specific processes on how to treat the simplest to the most complex cases. We can eliminate guesswork in the design of functional and esthetically pleasing results regardless of the starting condition.

Understanding how your teeth fit together, and treating the condition prior to starting your dental work will help avoid problems of instability, discomfort and function. Sometimes the symptoms are not initially noticed by the patient but can include things such as excessive wear on teeth, sore teeth, fractured fillings and teeth, muscle pain and other facial discomfort.

At the office of Dr. David Schimmel, we routinely evaluate your bite at each exam appointment to prevent future problems and discuss your options for treatment with you. We feel it is imperative that we inform our patients when we see a problem with their bite before the dental work begins, giving our patients the best options and foundation for a healthy outcome.

Our office offers the ClearCorrect invisible aligner system.  If you are looking for an alternative to metal braces, ClearCorrect is the clear and simple choice.  No wires. No Brackets. Just clear, convenient comfort-every reason to smile.  With ClearCorrect, Dr. Schimmel can straighten your teeth using a series of clear, custom, removable aligners.  Each aligner moves your teeth just a little bit at a time until the correct bite and beautiful smile is achieved.

What to Expect

We look forward to starting you on the road to optimal dental health with bite correction. When the patient decides to have a bite consultation; impressions are taken so Dr. Schimmel may study how your bite comes together.
